Just Because...

Kenley found a box full of Phil's old stuffed animals (we've recently acquired a lot of Phil's childhood things. His Dad moved houses and we got it all!) She loves this bear and snuggles with it a lot during the day.

We have this built in bench thing in our dining room. Kenley likes to climb onto it, but she doesn't like to get down by herself! So, sometimes I like to make her sit there so I can take pictures of her!

NaBloPoMo June 21

June 21: What was the worst job you ever had?
The worst job I've ever had was a very unfortunate situation. It was a nanny job I had in Seattle the summer after my sophomore year in college. It was for 3 boys. They were 9, 7, and 5. The 9 and 5 year old were fine, but that 7 year old had it in for me....big time. But the real problem was the Mom.  She let the kids call her every time I didn't do what they wanted. I'd tell them no, and they'd call their Mom. Like 50 times a day. So, I basically had no back up or authority. I ended up quitting before the summer was over, which is VERY not like me. The straw that broke my back was when the 7 year old spit in my face and punched my in the boob!!! and the Mom basically said boys will be boys. I could have handled this if I had at least had back up from the parents, but I could not keep going on like that. I had a lot of nanny jobs, and some other unruly kids, but their parents were mortified when they acted up (as I would be) and that makes all the difference.

June 18: What's the one food you feel like you couldn't live without? What's the one food you'd rather die than put in your mouth?
I could not live without spaghetti! I could eat it everyday, for every meal. It never gets old to me.

I would never want to put cottage cheese in my mouth. It's gross. My Mom said even as a baby I wouldn't eat it. I even tried it again a couple of months ago, just to see if my tastes had changed...nope, still nasty.

14 Months Old

Dear Kenley,
Today you are 14 months old!

This month you have continued to amaze me with your ability to pick up on things. You learn so quickly. We really have to watch what we say and do around you :)

You still don't want to walk.  You can walk. You will walk between your Dad and me if you we prompt you, but you still prefer crawling. You learned to climb on to and off of the couch recently. You think this is really cool. We accidentally learned you can also go down stairs now! You are kind of a little climber. We can no longer use strategically place objects to box you into an area. You can pretty much climb your way out of anything. Luckily, you haven't figured out how to crawl over gates or out of your crib yet!

This past month, your Grandpa Dan moved out of his house in Beaverton in to a house 7 blocks away from you! While we were helping him pack, we found all kinds of cool stuff. Like the dress in the picture above. It was made by your Grandma Signe and used to be Aunt Rachel's! It's still a little big on you, but it was still really cute!

Your Nana is coming to visit you this next month, which means you will be very spoiled! We'll have a good time doing all kinds of stuff when she's here!

We're going to have so much fun this summer kid! You're the funnest and I love you to pieces!!!!!

Love,
Momma

NaBloPoMo June 16

June 16: What's your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is something bad happening to and/or losing someone I love. It used to consume me thinking of this. It took a long time for me to be able to live in the moment and enjoy the people I love. I still think about it when I hear a story about something happening to someone's spouse or child, but I try to just keep things in perspective and enjoy every day, hour, minute, second of the time I do have with the ones I love.

June 15: What's your superpower?
I have a mind like a steel trap. I remember everything. Kindergarten...I remember. Embarrassing story about a family member...I remember. It's fun to be able to recall all those fun moments!

Also, stain fighting...I can get a stain out of anything. Old stain, new stain...I can do it!

June 14: What are the five best bands you've seen play live?
1. Radiohead
2. Sigur Ros
3. Flaming Lips
4. Elliott Smith
5. Wilco

I'd love to hear what my husband's answer is to this question....

NaBloPoMo June 9

OK, so I haven't kept up with posting everyday, but some of their prompt questions are pretty dumb. But I like today's, so I'll go with it.

June 10, 2010: If you could go back in time and meet your 16-year-old self, what three things would you tell yourself?

1. Don't date that guy for 2 years!!!! Play the field a little...you are going to meet your future husband the first day of college!

2. You're going to miss your Mom, even though you don't think so now.

3. High school doesn't mean anything 2 years after you're done. You won't ever see most of those people ever again. But the ones that mattered will pop back into your life now and again.

NaBloPoMo June 7

There were no questions over the weekend.

Today's question:

June 7: Do you owe an apology to anyone? Why?
Boring, but I don't think I do. If you think I owe you an apology, let me know!

On a funny random note, when Kenley woke up this morning, she sat in her crib and meowed until I came and got her!

NaBloPoMo June 4

Friday, June 4: What's the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of your father?
The safest answer to this is "no comment."

NaBloPoMo June 3

June 3: Define "freedom."
Freedom....hmmmm. Hard to explain.  I think of freedom as doing whatever makes you happy, even if it doesn't fit what most people consider your ideals to be.  I always think of this example. Most people would consider me a feminist (as I do myself).  When I decided to be a stay at home Mom, some people just couldn't believe a "feminist" would choose to do something that is sooo not female empowering. But that's just the thing. I "choose" to stay at home with my daughter. Doesn't make me any less of a feminist because I choose to spend my time raising my child. I "choose" to do this.  The right to choose, whatever it may be, is what I think freedom is.

NaBloPoMo

I saw this on someone else's blog, and I liked it, so I am going to do it to. It stands for National Blog Posting Month. That would be the month of June. It's a question a day, so I'm a little behind, but I'll do two today!

June 1: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Oddly enough, I always wanted to be a lawyer. I think it stemmed from the fact that people were always telling me I'd make a good one. I wanted to be a lawyer all the way up until I was about 19 and worked for a lawyer. That changed my mind very quickly. She worked all the time and hardly ever got to see her family, and, to be honest, I just don't like to work that hard! I wanted kids and figured it was pointless to have kids if I never got to see them. Thus, I did not become a lawyer.

June 2: What's your favorite poem? (And if you don't have one, why?
As embarrassing as it is to say, I don't have a favorite poem. I know, I know, I was an English major in college. I just don't get poetry. So, short answer as to why....I JUST DON'T GET IT!

I'll be back tomorrow with next question!
